Sheva required me to remove her nest and eggs as she had been incubating the fake eggs for too long without losing interest in them. It was necessary to reset her hormones (lovebirds are very hormonal) by completely revamping her cage and removing all shreddable items. After completing these tasks, she became frantic, flying around and loudly expressing her distress while searching for her nest.
Her actions immediately reminded me of how we often cling to dead works in our lives. Even though these things are leading us nowhere, we stubbornly hold onto them. God removes them out of love for us, yet we question His actions, asking, "What are You doing, God? Why are You turning my life upside down?" The reality is that we truly need Him to eliminate those dead works.Â
Shortly after feeling panicked, Sheva returned to her affectionate self, perching on my shoulder and nuzzling my face with her beak. I was thrilled to have her companionship again! I must admit that I would typically need more than a few hours to recover from such a distressing event that "turned my world upside down," but her loving reaction brought me joy and made me realize how much I had missed her during the month she spent sitting on her dummy eggs! What a resilient response to a life turned upside down!
When we are consumed by meaningless tasks, our Heavenly Father longs for us and is saddened by our unproductive lives. However, when we swiftly reconnect with Him and return to intimacy with Him, just like Sheva did with me after a life-changing event, it brings joy to His heart!
